The seminar setting A podium and small table will be placed at the front of the room for the Making Friends presenters. Participants will be seated around tables facing the podium. The tables should be arranged with adequate room for participants to move around. The host church will provide a PowerPoint projector, screen, VCR player and a media technician who will oversee the operation of the equipment. The Making Friends team will provide a laptop computer and, if necessary, a PowerPoint projector. The host church will provide refreshments for the participants when they arrive and for two short breaks. The seminar is most effective when presented in a single four-hour bloc of time. We recommend a Saturday morning time frame, concluding before lunch. Pre-seminar planning Once the seminar is scheduled we will meet with a representative from the leadership team to explain the promotion and follow-up guidelines and to learn how we can tailor the seminar to the specific needs of the church. For Making Friends to take root in your church, we recommend that at least 20 percent of your adults attend the seminar. The minimum number of registrants is twenty adults (age 16 and over). Post-seminar planning After the seminar we will provide consultation with the church leadership for as long as desired. Seminar cost The seminar cost (including the materials) is $20 per person or $35 per couple. The host church(es) is responsible for registration. The registration fees should be collected before the seminar, and the final number of registrants should be communicated to Tyler Flynn at least three days before the seminar. The total of the registration fees should be divided in half; make one check out to Tyler Flynn and the other to The Navigators. Outside the Columbus area… The seminar cost is an honorarium of $700 ($350 each for Bill and Tyler) plus travel and lodging expenses. In addition, there will be an $8 charge for each registrant for the seminar materials. The registration fees should be collected before the seminar, and the final number of registrants should be communicated to Tyler Flynn at least three days before the seminar. Checks for the honorarium plus one half the amount received for the seminar materials should be made out to Tyler Flynn and to The Navigators.
