Statement of Arrangements

The seminar setting
The seminar is an interactive learning experience that includes reflection, self-discovery, small group instruction, role-playing and instruction. To facilitate this experience we request that the host church follow these set-up guidelines.

A podium and small table will be placed at the front of the room for the Making Friends presenters.

Participants will be seated around tables facing the podium. The tables should be arranged with adequate room for participants to move around.

The host church will provide a PowerPoint projector, screen, VCR player and a media technician who will oversee the operation of the equipment. The Making Friends team will provide a laptop computer and, if necessary, a PowerPoint projector.

The host church will provide refreshments for the participants when they arrive and for two short breaks. The seminar is most effective when presented in a single four-hour bloc of time. We recommend a Saturday morning time frame, concluding before lunch.

Pre-seminar planning
The Making Friends team will meet with the church or group leadership at least two months before the seminar to explain the seminar contents and to give an overview of seminar arrangements.

Once the seminar is scheduled we will meet with a representative from the leadership team to explain the promotion and follow-up guidelines and to learn how we can tailor the seminar to the specific needs of the church.

For Making Friends to take root in your church, we recommend that at least 20 percent of your adults attend the seminar. The minimum number of registrants is twenty adults (age 16 and over).

Post-seminar planning
The Making Friends team will meet with the church leadership to develop a specific plan to integrate Making Friends into the lives of the seminar participants and into the congregation.

After the seminar we will provide consultation with the church leadership for as long as desired.
